Customs Clearance Germany
Your shipment is at the German border. We make sure it clears — fast, correctly, and without you lifting a finger.
Whether you're importing from the United States, Asia, the UK or anywhere else in the world, getting goods through German customs requires precision: the right HS codes, a valid EORI number, correctly filed declarations via ATLAS, and a licensed representative who is legally accountable. PEC Global handles all of it — in English, from Mettmann, Germany.

Why customs clearance in Germany is harder than it looks
Most shipment delays don't happen in transit. They happen at the German border, because one document is missing, one HS code is wrong, or no legally valid importer is named.
The EORI problem
Without a valid EORI number, your shipment cannot legally enter Germany. Non-EU companies cannot obtain a German EORI without a local entity. We hold the EORI and file as principal declarant — so your goods move.
Solved by PEC GlobalThe HS code problem
Germany’s customs authority uses harmonized system codes to determine import duty rates. A single misclassified product can trigger an inquiry and weeks of delays. We classify your goods correctly, every time.
Solved by PEC GlobalThe ATLAS problem
All customs declarations in Germany must be submitted electronically through ATLAS. This requires certified software, licensed personnel, and current tariff knowledge. We handle this daily.
Solved by PEC GlobalThe freight forwarder gap
95% of freight forwarders do not act as Importer of Record. When your goods arrive and there’s no valid importer named on the declaration — everything stops. We cover both.
Solved by PEC GlobalWhat we handle for you
Our customs clearance service covers every step of the import process — from documentation before your goods ship, to release notification once cleared. Warehousing and delivery are available as optional add-ons, or we hand goods directly to your own logistics partner.
Import Customs Declaration
We prepare and file the official import customs declaration (Einfuhrzollanmeldung) through Germany’s ATLAS system. This includes correct HS code classification, customs duty calculation, import VAT determination and payment, and filing under direct representation — we are legally accountable for the declaration.
EORI & Importer of Record
Non-EU companies cannot be named as importer on a German customs declaration without a local entity. PEC Global holds a German EORI number and acts as your official Importer of Record — taking full legal responsibility so your goods can enter Germany. No German GmbH required.
Import VAT Registration & Management
Goods imported into Germany are subject to import VAT (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer) of 19%. This must be paid at importation and can be reclaimed once you are VAT-registered. We manage German VAT registration for foreign companies, import VAT payment, VAT reclaim procedures, and OSS guidance for e-commerce sellers.
Warehousing & Onward Delivery (Optional)
After customs clearance, goods can be stored in our warehouse in Mettmann, North Rhine-Westphalia — near Düsseldorf, one of Germany’s major logistics hubs. We offer FBA prep, pick and pack, and delivery to any German or EU address. Or we release goods directly to your own logistics partner — no lock-in.
Your shipment from departure to cleared — step by step
Send us your shipment details
Before your goods leave the origin country, send us the commercial invoice, packing list, and product details. We classify HS codes, flag compliance requirements, and prepare your full documentation package. Nothing surprises us at the border.
Goods arrive at the German entry point
Your shipment arrives at Hamburg, Bremen, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) or Düsseldorf Airport (DUS). PEC Global submits your ATLAS declaration before or immediately on arrival — no waiting, no scrambling for missing documents.
Cleared and released to you
German customs reviews the declaration. With correct documentation, clearance takes 1–3 business days. We manage any customs queries in German on your behalf. Once cleared, goods go to your warehouse, our warehouse, Amazon FBA, or directly to your logistics partner.
Does your product need an EU Responsible Person? (GPSR)
Since December 2024, every non-food product sold in the EU requires a designated EU Responsible Person — a physical entity within the EU legally accountable for product safety. Without one, your products can be blocked at German customs and removed from Amazon.de listings. PEC Global acts as your EU Responsible Person under GPSR — maintaining compliance documentation and serving as the official contact for German market surveillance authorities.
Industries and origins we clear
We import goods into Germany from every major origin country — the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and beyond.
